Sevillanas workshop

Sevillanas comes from Spanish folklore, and -more precisely- from Seville, in Spain. It is light and full of joy and is danced in couples within a choreography that is composed of 4 parts (the first, second, third and fourth Sevillana). Sevillanas is danced in Spain, of course, but also all around the world, because the base of each of the four Sevillanas is the same everywhere!

The workshops will be carried out in two weekends in the 20th arrondissement in Paris.

-  Beginner level class
Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th of May 2018
For those who are pure beginners in flamenco and/or Sevillanas, and also for those who already have experience in either dance and want to correct, understand the structure and rhythm, or perfect the choreography of the Sevillanas.

-  Intermediate level class
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th of May 2018
For dancers who have experience dancing flamenco and Sevillanas and who have already learned at least the 1st and 2nd Sevillana.

Schedule for both weekends:

LE FIL DE NOS HISTOIRES /WEAVING THE THREADS OF OUR STORIES AT THE MAISON DES METALLOS, PARIS

“My Name is Not Carmen”, June 3rd, 4th and 5th 2016, Maison des Métallos, Paris

Life is a Train Station or My Name is Not Carmen (La vie est une Gare ) is a fusion of theatre and flamenco dance, music and poetry, philosophical discourse and comical introspection. Through this unique and remarkable combination, Yana Maizel and her two musicians take us on a journey between cultures and identities, through doubts and fears, dreams and hopes. They cross years and borders, from Russia to Spain, by way of France, in search of an identity, inspired by this phrase from the Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva: “Life is a train station, I will be leaving soon. I won’t tell you where to”.
