KORI KORI in Moscou

Documentary, work in progress, by Lucie Guesnier and Stefano Martone.

In Paris, the dancer and actress Yana Maizel stages dance performances telling stories of political refugees. Born in Leningrad in the 1960s, she immigrated to Canada with her family to escape the Soviet regime and the gulag. Now, Yana uses her experience to work with others who have escaped from war. By organizing workshops that have their roots in flamenco and theatre, she works with survivors to poetically weave together the threads of their stories. The memory of her own exile is outlined through these artistic encounters.
Yanochka is a film that is inhabited by the memory of a journey that evolves over a lifetime, one that leaves an everlasting imprint.

Sevillanas workshop

Sevillanas comes from Spanish folklore, and -more precisely- from Seville, in Spain. It is light and full of joy and is danced in couples within a choreography that is composed of 4 parts (the first, second, third and fourth Sevillana). Sevillanas is danced in Spain, of course, but also all around the world, because the base of each of the four Sevillanas is the same everywhere!

The workshops will be carried out in two weekends in the 20th arrondissement in Paris.

-  Beginner level class
Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th of May 2018
For those who are pure beginners in flamenco and/or Sevillanas, and also for those who already have experience in either dance and want to correct, understand the structure and rhythm, or perfect the choreography of the Sevillanas.

-  Intermediate level class
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th of May 2018
For dancers who have experience dancing flamenco and Sevillanas and who have already learned at least the 1st and 2nd Sevillana.
